The second stage of training for Commando Stas included hard flogging. Stas has shown his courage nature in that critical situation. So we may consider he's passed the second test. If the enemies got him captured in fact, he could endure this torture.
Everyone has their favorite fantasy. Mine is having a guy tied spreadeagle so tight he can't move..and to increase his discomfort someone puts him in a severe full nelson for several minutes.
